Eyewitnesses and our expert witness accident re-constructionist engineer concluded that the ambulance was driving at a high rate of speed when it slammed into the driver’s side of our client’s vehicle. Amazingly, the responding officers even gave our client a ticket despite the eyewitness accounts of the crash.

Our client suffered several serious and permanent injuries to his knee, back, neck, and shoulder. In fact, he even required knee surgery. The defendant only offered $10,000 to settle our client’s injury claim and blamed the crash on him. We were not about to let our client suffer again! We sued the defendant and took it all the way to trial. At trial, we emphasized Florida laws that indicate:

The driver of an authorized emergency vehicle, when responding to an emergency call, …may proceed past a red or stop signal or stop sign, but only after slowing down as may be necessary for safe operation; exceed the maximum speed limits so long as the driver does not endanger life or property; disregard regulations governing direction or movement or turning in specified directions, so long as the driver does not endanger life or property. The foregoing provisions shall not relieve the driver of an authorized emergency vehicle from the duty to drive with due regard for the safety of all persons, nor shall such provisions protect the driver from the consequences of his or her reckless disregard for the safety of others.

After carefully considering all of the evidence presented over during this three-day trial, the jury in Lee County returned a verdict in favor of our client in the amount of $225,000. Our client felt vindicated after years of being blamed for the car accident. Moreover, he now has money to help him and his family for quite a while. We love fighting for our clients, and we love wining for our clients even more!
